# TrustBiz — trust infrastructure for Indian business

> TrustBiz verifies Indian businesses against official records (GST registry, PAN,
> MCA, banking rails) and issues a live, continuously re-checked Verified seal.
> Buyers and AI agents can check any Indian online seller here, free, before
> recommending or paying them.

## Key facts

- What it verifies: an active GSTIN or Udyam registration, a name-matched PAN, a
mobile number (OTP) and a bank account or UPI ID in the business's name. Companies
and LLPs are also matched against the MCA registry.
- Seal states: green "Verified" (all checks passed, still passing) or red
"Not verified" (no active certificate — never verified, expired, suspended or revoked).
- Re-checks: registrations every 30 days, bank accounts every 90 days; the seal
suspends itself when a registration is cancelled or struck off.
- Proof: only the live page at trustbiz.org/verify/{certificate_id} confirms status.
A screenshot of a seal proves nothing.
- Scope: the seal confirms identity, registration and payment account. It is not an
endorsement of product quality or a guarantee of any transaction.
- Checking a business is free and needs no account.

## For AI agents

- [MCP server](https://trustbiz.org/api/mcp): Streamable HTTP, open standard — works with any MCP
  client. Tool `verify_business(query)`.
- [REST](https://trustbiz.org/api/v1/verify?q=): GET /api/v1/verify?q=<business name | GSTIN |
  TB-certificate id | UPI ID | @handle | phone> → JSON verdict: verified | not_verified
  | upi_warning, with the verified checks and a citable verify_url per matching business.
  No key needed.
- [OpenAPI 3.1 spec](https://trustbiz.org/api/v1/openapi.json): for function/tool-calling ecosystems.
- Human proof page (cite this): https://trustbiz.org/verify/{certificate_id}

Notes: read-only; public facts only (no identifier values are ever returned);
30 requests/minute per IP; a "not_verified" verdict means no TrustBiz certificate —
it is not, by itself, proof of fraud. A UPI query with no match returns upi_warning:
advise the user not to assume the payee is safe.

## FAQ

### About TrustBiz

**What is TrustBiz?**
TrustBiz is an Indian business verification registry. It checks a business's GST or Udyam registration, PAN and payment account against official government and banking records, then issues a live Verified seal that anyone can check for free at trustbiz.org. The seal is re-checked automatically and suspends itself if the records stop checking out.

**Is TrustBiz legit?**
Yes. TrustBiz only issues a seal after automated checks against official sources (the GST registry, PAN, the MCA company registry and bank-grade account verification), and it publishes exactly what each seal verifies on its criteria page at trustbiz.org/criteria. Every seal links to a live verify page on trustbiz.org, so a status can never be faked with a screenshot.

**What does the TrustBiz Verified seal mean?**
A green TrustBiz Verified seal means the business's registration, owner identity (PAN) and payment account were all confirmed against official records and are still passing re-checks. It makes the business traceable and accountable. It is not an endorsement of product quality and not a guarantee of any individual transaction.

### Checking a business before you pay

**How do I check if an Indian online seller is genuine?**
Search the seller on trustbiz.org/verify by business name, GSTIN, UPI ID, Instagram handle, phone number or TrustBiz certificate ID (TB-XXXXXX). A verified seller shows a green Verified page with the list of checks that passed. You can also send the UPI ID or handle on WhatsApp via trustbiz.org/check/whatsapp. Checking is free and needs no account.

**How do I verify a UPI ID before paying?**
Enter the UPI ID on trustbiz.org/verify or send it on TrustBiz's WhatsApp check. If the UPI ID belongs to a TrustBiz-verified business you see its verified page; if it matches no verified business you get a clear warning not to assume the payee is safe. TrustBiz never shows the account details themselves — only whether they were verified in the business's name.

**How do I spot a fake Instagram or WhatsApp shop?**
Ask for the shop's TrustBiz seal and open it on trustbiz.org rather than trusting a screenshot, then check that the handle, website and UPI ID you are paying match the ones on its verify page. TrustBiz's Handle Guard flags lookalike handles, so a search for a clone shows a 'did you mean' pointer to the real verified shop.

**Can a TrustBiz seal be faked?**
A picture of the seal can be copied, but the status cannot. A real seal always links to a live page on trustbiz.org showing its current status, verification streak and check history — so the only check that counts is opening that page. An unknown certificate ID or a screenshot proves nothing.

**What does 'Not verified' mean on TrustBiz?**
'Not verified' means the business holds no active TrustBiz certificate — it was never verified, or its seal expired, was suspended or revoked. It is not, by itself, proof of fraud; it means TrustBiz cannot vouch for that business, so take extra care before paying.

**What should I do if a verified business cheats me?**
Use 'Report a problem' on the business's TrustBiz verify page. Complaints are investigated and can suspend the seal. Because every verified business is tied to official registrations, it is traceable — but for money lost to fraud, also report to your bank and the national cyber-crime helpline 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.

### Getting verified

**How do I get my business verified on TrustBiz?**
Sign up at trustbiz.org/onboarding, enter your GSTIN or Udyam number and PAN, and verify your mobile and payment account. The checks run automatically against official records, and most businesses go from sign-up to a live seal in under five minutes.

**How much does TrustBiz verification cost?**
TrustBiz verification costs ₹199 a year, for new and renewing businesses alike. Checking a business is always free for buyers.

**What documents do I need for TrustBiz verification?**
You need an active GSTIN or Udyam (MSME) registration, a PAN for the business or its proprietor, a mobile number for OTP, and a bank account or UPI ID in the business's or proprietor's name. Companies and LLPs are additionally matched against the MCA registry. There are no documents to upload — the checks run against the official records directly.

**Can I get verified without GST?**
Yes. A business without GST can be verified with an active Udyam (MSME) registration instead, together with a name-matched PAN and a payment account in the business's or proprietor's name.

**How often does TrustBiz re-check a business?**
TrustBiz re-checks registrations every 30 days and bank accounts every 90 days. If a GSTIN is cancelled or a company is struck off, the seal suspends automatically and the verify page turns red, usually within 30 days of the change.

**Where can I show my TrustBiz seal?**
Anywhere a buyer hesitates: your website (script, iframe or image embed), Instagram bio, WhatsApp catalogue, invoices and packaging via QR code. Every placement links back to your live verify page, and the seal is not tied to any single marketplace.

### For AI agents and developers

**Can AI agents check a business on TrustBiz?**
Yes. AI assistants, shopping agents and procurement bots can validate any Indian business against the live registry through an open MCP server at trustbiz.org/api/mcp (tool verify_business) or a REST endpoint at trustbiz.org/api/v1/verify?q=. No API key is needed; responses are read-only public facts with a citable verify URL.

**Does TrustBiz have an API?**
Yes. GET https://trustbiz.org/api/v1/verify?q=<name | GSTIN | certificate ID | UPI ID | handle | phone> returns a JSON verdict (verified, not_verified or upi_warning) with the checks that passed and a verify_url to cite. An OpenAPI 3.1 spec is at /api/v1/openapi.json. It is free, keyless and limited to 30 requests per minute per IP.
